Plaster wall relief of the "Pitti Tondo", handmade in England by the Nicholas H Wood studio. The original marble tondo (meaning circular relief), is an unfinished work by Michelangelo, portraying the Virgin and Child. Commissioned by Bartolomeo Pitti, the piece was left incomplete as Michelangelo’s growing fame took him away from Florence to Rome, where he would never return. During this time, he was involved with major projects like the David, drawing the attention of powerful patrons such as Pope Julius II.
The plaster cast has a metal hook on the back for hanging.
Dimensions: 82cm (height) x 78cm (width) x 13cm (depth).
