Portrait mask of a Woman (“Cecilia”), after Donatello.

This plaster cast represents Cecilia, also known as the Bust of a Woman, after the early 15th-century terracotta original by Donatello (c. 1386–1466), one of the most influential figures of the Italian Renaissance.

This example is an English plaster cast, taken from a Victorian piece mould made by D. Brucciani & Co. circa 1865, produced following the Victoria & Albert Museum’s acquisition of the original terracotta. Brucciani & Co. were the pre-eminent art cast makers of the 19th century, supplying museums, academies, and artists’ studios throughout Britain and Europe.

Each piece is handmade and hand-cast by the Nicholas H Wood studio using traditional methods. The wall sculpture has a metal wall hook attached to the reverse, allowing it to be wall-hung.

Dimensions: 31cm (height) x 20cm (width) x 9cm (depth).
