Renaissance Nobleman Intaglio

A handmade plaster intaglio created by the Nicholas H Wood studio. This cast, titled Renaissance Nobleman, is taken from an original Italian Renaissance medal depicting a distinguished figure in profile. The intricate garments and chain of office convey both artistic mastery and the refined status of the sitter, characteristic of the Renaissance ideal of nobility and learning.

Such portrait medallions were popular in Renaissance Italy, celebrating scholars, patrons, and rulers through the classical language of profile relief.

The surface shows subtle signs of age, with gentle wear and patina that enhance its authentic, timeworn character.

Made from high-quality plaster, it includes a wall hook on the reverse for easy hanging.
