Casts for Drawing

The tradition of drawing sculptures has a long history, and can be traced back further than Michelangelo, who was taught to draw by copying ancient Greek and Roman sculptures. When access to the original sculptures was limited, art students turned to replicating plaster casts of the artworks. This is how the traditional academic technique of drawing sculptures became known as "cast drawing" in art education.

Cast drawing is still very much alive today, with art students all over the world learning the fundamentals of portrait drawing through this traditional academic practice.

The artwork is just so beautiful. I'm currently at art school (atelier) and bought this to practice my drawing from life in my own time. The craftsmanship is fantastic, and getting a cast from a trained artist is essential so when drawing you're learning from quality form and knowledge. The delivery was lightning fast and packed well enough to probably have the box fall of a building and still keep the cast intact haha. So happy with this!
